My Rating: 3.92/4 (aka Excellent & rewatchable)
One line summary: The highly intriguing story of Facebook’s founding.
The Deets: I just rewatched this one on a flight and forgot how pitch perfect it is, and that it won a handful of rightful Oscars, including adapted screenplay for Aaron Sorkin and original music for Trent Reznor – sets the ominous mood for David Fincher’s tone and tale. After “The Game” and “Seven,” this subject matter would have seemed out of reach for Fincher, but he kind of nails it, especially in eliciting solid performances from the entire cast – Jesse Eisenberg is razor sharp as Zuckerberg, Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin and even Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker. And despite the early web and cellphone tech, the narrative is so well-paced that you are locked in as the story jumps between the lawsuits and origin action as though it was a rocking thriller. If you haven’t yet seen it, get on it, especially because part two is coming soon.
Perfect for: If you like Sorkin’s writing and Fincher’s directing imagined in a corporate action intellectual thriller.
Where to watch: You can rent on Amazon Prime AND it looks like it’s back in theaters for a short time to create buzz for part two.
Food pairing: Sushi.
