My Rating: 3.86/4
One line summary: A man falls to his death and it looks like an accident, but the lead detective doggedly pursues the truth.
The Deets: This is the first film I have seen by Korean director Park Chan-wook; two of his others are “Oldboy” and “The Handmaiden.” I love his cinematic texture, which is fluid, brilliant in its visual tension, and makes you slightly uneasy about what may happen next. As the detective meets the wife of the dead man, her subtle reactions and mysterious ways cause him to be suspicious and also fall under her spell.
Perfect for: Anyone who likes a good mystery, lovers of Hitchcock, and with an affinity for Korean films.
Where to watch: Stream-able, but you’ll need to rent it. And you should.
