My Rating: 3.82/4
One line summary: The retiring CIA mentor of his agent gone rogue must outwit his own colleagues to save him.
The Deets: RIP Tony Scott – this guy really knew how to make fast-paced, engaging, and smooth films, and this is one of my top ten favorite rewatchables. It has everything: an electric premise, great cast, perfect use of flashbacks, and a nice blend of action – both in CIA conference rooms and in the field. Scott’s camera flies around buildings, he unleashes huge explosions, and he still manages to blend in just enough sentimentality so that you care about the father-son dynamic between Redford and Pitt. If you haven’t seen this one, don’t hesitate; I’m about to go watch it again.
Perfect for: Tony Scott style lovers, Robert Redford and/or Brad Pitt devotees, and if you love a slick spy flick (and who doesn’t?!).
Where to watch: You gotta rent it, and you won’t regret it.
