“Interstellar”

My Rating: 3.92/4 (aka Must See)

One line summary: When Earth becomes uninhabitable, a former NASA pilot and a group of scientists search for alternate planets to preserve humanity.

The Deets: What better way to spend a 4-hour flight than with 2 hours and 49 minutes of Christopher Nolan’s master storytelling of a space and family epic? (The only improvement would have been a giant screen and surround sound; also to capture the majestic Hans Zimmer score). I had seen this one before, but I couldn’t recall the details; somehow this time was way more intense and its magic came to life. I also didn’t remember just how awesome Matthew McConaughey is in the lead of “Coop” — I am not sure any other actor could play this role with such depth, energy, and love. With my recent obsession with “Tenet,” I have a renewed appreciation for the genius and grandeur of Nolan’s filmmaking, the imagination he displays, and the incredible art he produces in movie realities that bend time, space, and all the rules. I am very excited for his next one, “Oppenheimer,” which will be released next month.

Perfect for: When you’re ready for a time investment of a movie, but one that will leave you elevated. If you already love Nolan’s films and especially if you love to watch McConaughey (feels like he’s in every scene).

Where to watch: You gotta rent it, and you obviously need to – as big of a screen as you can find.

Food pairing: This one calls for a giant, bottomless bucket of popcorn with a side of Twizzlers.
