“Mobius”

My Rating: 3.77/4 (aka Totally worth it)

One line summary: A spy operation in Monaco gets tangled up by passion.

The Deets: I could watch Jean Dujardin do anything for 2 hours, and the same goes for Cecile de France (the Belgian actress who I first adored in one of my favorites, L’Auberge Espagnole). I kinda feel like this movie flew under the radar; it’s ten years old and you notice its age only when they use cellphones. But really, this is a story about attraction and deceit and loyalty. It’s so pleasing to watch you almost forget what the plot is and who’s on which side (because in matters of the heart, there are no sides). Directed by Frenchman Eric Rochant (also the creator of the excellent tv series “The Bureau”), it is a slow burn, in all facets, and its Frenchness lets you ignore some of the plot holes as it unfolds to the only conclusion possible.

Perfect for: Anyone who loves a good spy movie, and if you don’t need to know exactly what’s going on but you can enjoy the texture and the actors and just let it flow.

Where to watch: You gotta rent it, and you obviously should, well worth the investment.

Food pairing: This one feels like a vodka cocktail kind of flick, but please go with a mocktail if that’s your thing.
