My Rating: 3.92/4 (aka Must see)

One line summary: A mother in fictional Ebbing provokes the local police to solve the case of her daughter’s murder.

The Deets: Three-time Oscar winner Frances McDormand is another of the great actors who is always great, even in some of her smaller roles; I will watch anything with her in it — and in this force of a film, she’s at the center, propelling it forward with each scene she steals. And yet, the scene-stealing is a feat because Woody, Sam Rockwell, and Peter Dinklage (even Lucas Hedges) are all pitch perfect, too. Credit to the actors, of course, but it’s Martin McDonagh’s crackling, dark-humored script and intense direction that keep you locked in, awaiting the next move. This is a complex story of rage and revenge, the blurred lines of morality, and how love is always the answer.

Perfect for: Fans of Frances McDormand, Coen brothers’ films (this one feels similar), and if you’re in the mood for something dark.

Where to watch: You gotta rent it, and you really should (included with Disney+).
