“Sublet”

My Rating: 3.72/4 (aka Worth your time)

One line summary: An American travel writer visits Tel-Aviv and explores.

The Deets: This is a delicious, warm, and honest movie, and it makes you want to go to Tel-Aviv Israel immediately. The story centers around a middle-aged guy who shows up in Israel seemingly excepting his tourist trip to unfold in a certain way, and then – like life usually does – it goes sideways on him, especially after he meets the much younger and attractive Tomer. Written and directed by Israeli Eytan Fox, “Sublet” is a feast with heart, and it hits many human notes but without cliches or melodrama. Definitely a tasty watch for any evening.

Perfect for: If you already love Tel-Aviv, like I do, or if you’ve always wanted to visit.

Where to watch: You gotta rent this one and it’s worth it!

Food pairing: Tough. Choices. I would go with some classic hummus and pita bread.
