“Perfect Days”

My Rating: 3.99/4 (aka Yes it’s that good)

One line summary: Hirayama spends his days in Tokyo cleaning toilets and living in the now.

The Deets: When the credits began to roll, I thought that was a perfect movie; every frame, gesture, line of dialogue, all of it was perfect. And perfectly natural. The great Wim Wenders has made a rare film here, one that transcends the mundane and encourages – almost demands – that we look at our lives through a new lens, one where we embrace a “now is now” philosophy. The pace and lack of dialogue won’t appeal to everyone, but I couldn’t recommend this movie more. They truly don’t make them like this anymore; if you can immerse yourself in it, you will be transported.

Perfect for: Anyone who enjoys contemplative films with minimal dialogue, and if you want to slow down and appreciate the world around you.

Where to watch: For now it’s only in theaters.

Food pairing: Probably a full bowl of ramen.
