“The Hidden Face”

My Rating: 3.78/4 (aka Worth it)

One line summary: A woman decides to test her boyfriend’s love.

The Deets: I wish I hadn’t seen the trailer before we decided to watch the movie in full because this thrilling story is essentially told in two parts with just enough missing that you are genuinely guessing what will unfold. So my advice is to trust me on this one, don’t watch the trailer, and let the action unravel until you’re able to piece together what has transpired. This is not necessarily a “deep” movie, but it pulls at the universal themes of love and trust, and ultimately, the highly perceptive nature of women.

Perfect for: When you want a movie that will entertain you without asking too much, adding just enough texture and pacing to be enjoyable. And especially if you like Spanish-language films on the darker side.

Where to watch: Should be rentable on your favorite streaming platform.

Food pairing: A delightful collection of tapas for sure; I would go manchego and salami, and maybe some marcona almonds.
