“The Body”

My Rating: 3.96/4 (aka Definitely must see)

One line summary: A woman’s body goes missing from the morgue and the mystery of its disappearance ensues.

The Deets: I seriously regret the fact that it took me this long to see this movie. After watching and re-watching one of my all-time favorites, Oriol Paulo’s “The Invisible Guest,” this is the one he made two years earlier. You can totally see the similarities, though this one is darker (the whole thing seems to take place at night), and it’s constantly raining (cue “Seven” fans). You get sucked in deeper and more intensely until the climactic ending when you can’t actually believe the trick he’s pulled on you. No spoilers here, just go and rent it!

Perfect for: If you already like the work of Paulo, and if you’re just in the mood for a perfectly paced and constructed thriller.

Where to watch: Rent it on your favorite streaming platform, just do it.

Food pairing: Something crunchy, but don’t let the food distract you from the action.
