“Timecrimes”

My Rating: 3.78/4 (aka Definitely worth it)

One line summary: A man travels back in time to try and alter the future.

The Deets: There are some mystery or thriller films that want all of the puzzle pieces to fit neatly together in the end — this is not one of them. Instead, it’s highly entertaining and thought-provoking, very well-paced, and perfectly low budget. It begins simply enough: A man comes home from shopping to his loving wife and house being renovated; and that’s where the simple ends. For the subsequent 80 minutes, we are led on a mind-bending journey as our protagonist gets attacked, bloodied, and escapes into a time machine after being chased by a man with a bandaged head. I will leave it to you to unravel the time mystery that follows, and be forewarned that you will probably end up with more questions than answers.

Perfect for: If you’re in the mood for a twisty film with only four characters and you enjoy a mysterious ending (like I do).

Where to watch: It’s on Amazon Prime, so get it while it lasts.

Food pairing: Go simple for this one, maybe some light tapas – manchego and toast.
