My Rating: 3.68/4 (aka Worth your time)
One line summary: Three half-siblings reconnect as they try to take care of their aging sculptor father.
The Deets: I will admit that a few scenes in this witty ditty of a film had me laughing to the point of tears. I am a sucker for a great family dramedy, and this Noam Baumbach piece kinda nails the family dynamics and hilarity that can ensue within the relationships that we often love to hate. Dustin Hoffman is pitch perfect at the father and centerpiece of the film; Stiller and Adam Sandler also nail their roles as sons and stepbrothers. This won’t be for everyone, but if you liked the older Woody Allen movies filled with hilarious, often wise and sharp dialogue, you will enjoy this, including the semi-predictable but satisfying end.
Perfect for: If you’re in the mood for a dialogue-driven family comedy/drama set in New York.
Where to watch: Netflix!
Food pairing: A nice big overstuffed deli sandwich on sourdough.
