“Hearts Beat Loud”

My Rating: 3.78/4 (aka Great watch)

One line summary: A father/daughter duo make some music before she goes off to college.

The Deets: This one came back to me recently, probably because we are flying over to see our daughter who is studying abroad in Spain. And yes, I am total sucker for father/daughter movies, and this one absolutely nails it. Nick Offerman is spot on, Ted Danson as his bartender BFF is both cliched and just right, Toni Collette is always great, and I just learned that Kiersey Clemons performs the songs and delivers a pitch-perfect role! I’ve never been to Red Hook but it made me want to visit and hang out. This may not be a grand movie, but it has huge heart and humor.

Perfect for: If you’re a father/daughter movie sap like me, or you’re in the mood for a music-filled family dramedy with true indie soul.

Where to watch: And and and, it’s available on Amazon Prime, so you have no excuse.

Food pairing: This one feels like a cheeseburger.
