“Carry-On”

My Rating: 3.52/4 (aka Just good enough)

One line summary: A TSA agent navigates a terrorist threat at LAX on Christmas Eve.

The Deets: Just remember that every movie I review does not need to be one I love; and I didn’t love this movie — it just barely got over the high jump bar for watchability…but it’s just fun enough and almost believable enough and not too violent or grotesque so that it’s perfectly watchable (it also fit our weekend theme of airplane movies, which started with “Black Box” and ended with the mediocre Jodie Foster flick “Flightplan” – also fun but not necessary). If you suspend disbelief and sit back to have some fun, you will enjoy this – if you’re expecting something unexpected, then look for elsewhere (including my long list of great thrillers!). Thank you, Netflix, for lowering the bar to the least common denominator market level.

Perfect for: If you are in the mood for a mindless and fun thriller that won’t really keep you guessing but will keep you entertained enough (and when you don’t want to rent something because you have too many streaming subscriptions already).

Where to watch: Netflix!

Food pairing: A perfect popcorn movie, butter optional, don’t inhale.
