My Rating: 3.83/4 (aka Must see for a war movie)
One line summary: Christopher Nolan’s retelling of the amazing true story of Dunkirk during WWII.
The Deets: I am a tad embarrassed to admit that I hadn’t seen this excellent film until a recent long flight back from Europe, especially as a self-proclaimed Nolan fan. And I am also embarrassed that I watched it on a tiny plane screen when it really deserves a proper large format experience, for widescreen and audio. But alas, from the first moments – a Nolan trademark – we are off and running and right in the midst of the action, being shot at and chased by the invisible enemy. This is a movie about bravery and fear, and the times in a life when we become heroes.
Perfect for: If you love Nolan like I do, and if you’re in the mood for a war movie – and despite the fact that it’s not gruesome like “Private Ryan,” the intensity is there. You will recognize many faces and Nolan regulars, including Tom Hardy.
Where to watch: As of this writing, you can catch it on Amazon Prime, don’t hesitate.
Food pairing: Only one way to go here – Fish and chips.
