“Kompromat”

My Rating: 3.68/4

One line summary: Based on a true story, a French diplomat must escape from a Russian FSB plot in Siberia.

The Deets: When you learn that this story actually happened – and dig up the details – it becomes both more amazing and harrowing. Mathieu is a cultural attaché in Siberia, thinking that the move from France will be good for his family and country. But what unfolds is a plot to imprison him, and we learn what an ordinary man is capable when he’s fighting for his survival. Gilles Lellouche is excellent in the lead role, and – despite a few unrealistic moments – the pace is fast and the tension high.

Perfect for: When you’re in the mood for a story about a man on the run.

Where to watch: You gotta rent it and you should, well worth your time.
