My Rating: 3.96/4 (aka Gotta see it)
One line summary: A story about a beauty pageant and a family reuniting.
The Deets: This might be one of the funniest and delightful movies you ever see. Absolutely brilliantly original, with a super sharp script, and a cast of characters you’d think would not be able to coexist, but in the hands of a roster of great actors – Toni Collette, Greg Kinnear, Abigail Breslin (the remarkable Olive), Paul Dano, Steve Carrell (what!!?), and the iconic Alan Arkin (RIP) – I mean, this is magic. It’s a comedy, dramedy, and road trip movie all wrapped into one. It has heart, rawness, and an incredible soundtrack. And if you don’t have a huge smile on your face as the final scene hits, then you don’t have a soul. And after I just wrote this, I think it’s time for another rewatch.
Perfect for: If you like those quirky, indie, original films that make you laugh and almost cry.
Where to watch: You can rent it on Amazon Prime or Apple TV.
Food pairing: Definitely a pizza movie, multiple slices.

Spot-on take, although 3.96 seems as if you’re telling the universe there’s room for perfection. Also, (sticking with stats), 100% agree with the “if you don’t smile at the end…” clause ; ) which is basically a character test. Rewatch a must – back on my list!
