My Rating: 3.97/4 (aka Must see)
One line summary: The story of Bella Baxter, an utterly original woman brought back to life in a most extraordinary way.
The Deets: Wow. This is a brilliant movie, a layered fantasy tale starring the sublime Emma Stone and created by Yorgos Lanthimos. I struggled to conjure the words needed to describe it; suffice it to say that you are enveloped in a world of magical visuals, incredible costumes, and in an indeterminate time. Swept away in a space imagined by Terry Gilliam, but with even more purpose and depth. You must see it for its sheer originality, and then you can decide what you take from it, and whether its beautiful lessons of life and living remain within you.
Perfect for: You need to experience this film if you love movies, fantasy stories, and if you want to be transported.
Where to watch: As of now (January), you need to get to a theater (and it’s worth it!).
Food pairing: Makes you crave a pastel de nata, or three.
