“The Last Diamond”

My Rating: 3.72/4 (aka Fun and Worth It)

One line summary: A career thief gets entangled.

The Deets: I am a sucker for Yvan Attal, so take this review with a grain of French salt – I will watch and enjoy pretty much anything that he’s in (happy to provide you with some of my faves if you’re interested). This film is a slick, fun, and well-paced mystery, and even though you probably know what’s going to happen, it almost doesn’t matter because the fun of it is how you get there. Attal plays a lifelong criminal named Simon who loves to con and steal; his “mark” is a serious diamond that is coming on public display and (of course) is under heavy guard. The witty and trustworthy Simon slips his way into being trusted, and the playful plot twists keep us smiling until the end.

Perfect for: A lazy weekend (like this one!) when you just want some eye candy entertainment.

Where to watch: You gotta rent it, or you can subscribe to the Cohen media channel.

Food pairing: The amazing French hot dog on a giant baguette that they eat halfway in, thank me later.
