My Rating: 3.73/4
One line summary: A posthumous novel becomes a literary sensation, but one critic sets out to find the truth behind the book.
The Deets: Probably only the French can pull off a confection like this – it’s just smart enough to be enjoyable, just witty enough to keep you interested, and just mysterious enough to keep you guessing. And when the truth is revealed – when we find out who the real Henri Pick is!!! – you smile, give a little laugh, and applaud your movie choice. Because you’re left with a smile on your face at the end. And what’s so wrong with that?
Perfect for: Lovers of breezy French films, bookish types, and anyone who’s ever been in the publishing business (like me, long ago).
Where to watch: You gotta rent it, and it’s worth it for a light evening or weekend afternoon watch.
