My Rating: 3.27/4 (aka Pretty much not worth it)
One line summary: A psychiatrist suspects that her patient has been murdered.
The Deets: I am going to go ahead and disagree with the 81% RT rating on this one. We are all biased, of course, and in this case, my suspicion is that these enamored reviewers were so delighted by watching Jodie Foster speak French so fluently alongside three powerhouse French actors that they fell over themselves and hit their heads and forgot that this actually isn’t a good movie but rather a bit of a jumbled mess trying to be an eerie version of a Francois Ozon mystery with a side of Claude Chabrol (sure, call me a Franco-cinephile snob if you want to, I won’t be offended). While it’s lovely watch Foster in action, the parts never quite add up to a cohesive whole and you’re left scratching your head. If you’re expecting a French murder mystery then you’ll be disappointed; but if you’re cool with some Foster fodder, then jump right in.
Perfect for: If you have exhausted other options and you’re in the mood to watch a lot of Jodie Foster speaking French.
Where to watch: You can rent it on Amazon Prime or Apple TV or YouTube. You’ve been warned.
Food pairing: Roasted vegetable quiche served room temperature (be on the lookout for a delectable bowl of tagliatelle).
